Cafe Keksz

Keksz, bar and cafe in Budapest

7th district of Budapest has gradually turned from Jewish into Drinking, with new watering holes springing up on a weekly basis. Quite predictably, just a handful of those are able to offer something different, something which is not yet another boring version of chicken breast and cheap-ish beer in an orange-coloured interior.

Keksz seems quite nice, and quite in contemporary Budapest character. It also has essential elements we all take for granted now in Budapest: free wi-fi and plenty of power sockets in its walls, which makes it a very convenient place to drop by in the afternoon with your laptop (to write a review or two.)

The Lego-themed interior is subtle, the light is not overwhelming, the chairs are old and not very comfortable (will the supply of old chairs for new cafes ever cease in this city?), the crowd and the staff are creative hipsters.

In Keksz Bistro they serve daily lunch menu at pleasant prices, and the place tends to get crowded during these hours. In other times it is sandwich menu, and you can construct your own too with any ingredients from the list. No biscuits on the menu though, despite the name. However, we didn't try their food yet (but only because what the guy next to us ordered didn't look sexy at all), so your comments on the quality of their food will be much appreciated.

All in all, it is a lovely cafe-bar to stop for a drink or have a few while gazing through the huge windows at passers/bikers-by.
