Due to the volcanic eruption airspace in Hungary closed until Monday noon (12.00 hours local time), and stranded passengers are trying to find alternatives.
There are impressive queues in both train stations with international ticket offices, Nyugati and Keleti, but no signs of panic. On Keleti station staff are helping queuing people with information.
Budapest airport informs passengers about bus service during flight restrictions with such routes as Budapest - London, Budapest - Paris - Brussels, Budapest - Stuttgart - Cologne and other destinations.
This seem a bit insane as usually there are well under a dozen of people cuing up at ether of stations. And taking into account the guys behind a desk will spend 10-15 min to give you a ticket it should be quite a nightmare.
Anyway, Hungarian railways (in terms of quality / being modern) are way into the future comparing to other Central EU. Love to travel with them but Austrian are even better ;)
