Kunk, the monthly indie/electro/bad pop party, is straying slightly from typical form for its February edition. On Saturday, February 16 at Trafo Bar, the spotlight is shifted onto Budapest-based art/fashion/culture/music blogs for a special "2ManyBloggas' night.
In addition to the normal DJ shenanigans, the evening will be punctuated by a live performance of sorts, taking place upon a 'circle of lust'. Within the circle, each participating blog, represented either by a contributor or someone else they pick, will model an item that the blog lusts after hence the name. The result will be a kind of stationary fashion show, except without boundaries, as the items needn't be clothes: they can be works of art, a gadget, a photo in a frame, or simply an individual who they feel embodies what the blog is trying to shed light upon.
Although some of the blogs are written only in Hungarian, some only English, and some in both, they ALL are brought together by their common place of residence: Budapest. This fact will undoubtedly, and thankfully, influence how the blogs choose to be represented. Participants include: Mindennapi, Mashkulture, BPfashion, Betonpanda, Kultplay, Ourstyle, Pep, Ektiv, Gumipop, BpStyle, and USE unused.
The Kunk party, comprising DJs Brandon (US) and Cigi (HU), emerged in early 2007 as a hybrid of indie and smart electro sounds, influenced by the blog circuit, and trademarked by its love of throwing guilty pleasures into sets. From Justice to the Backstreet Boys, and from Crystal Castles, to Scooter -- Kunk's tastes know no shame. Playing sets alongside them at 2ManyBloggas are the Frenchtronica Techno-heads Kollektiva, the long-standing Indie-plus collective Gumipop, and the local version of the UK export, Death Disco Budapest.
Other blogs that didn't manage to get involved during
the first wave are still encouraged to come and prove that they aren't just anonymous bots behind keyboards!
