Castle Hill

Budapest. Castle Hill

The Castle Hill also know as Castle District and Budai vár is one of the most popular tourist attractions. It has a long history and teems with museums, churches, monuments and statues. The Castle Hill is located in prestigious I district of Budapest, known for its high real estate prices. Its architecture slightly differs from the main trend one sees in the city's lowland. The only shops here are those offering souvenirs, postcards, Hungarian pottery, tablecloths and leather articles. But the place is stuffed with restaurants and cafés of every sort and kind. Also, view of the city is much better from here, than from Citadella (Gellért Hill).

How to get by public transport:

  • Funicular
  • Bus (with sign of castle instead of number) from Moszkva tér
  • Afoot

In the Castle District you will find:

  • Palaces and museums
  • City Hall
  • Churches
  • Cafes and restaurants
  • Souvenir shops and plenty of tourists
  • National Archives of Hungary
