Oktogon is a junction of Nagykörút (Grand Boulevard) and Andrássy út named so because of its octagonal shape. Oktogon is also a station on the yellow M1 line of the Budapest Metro.
Before 1871 this site was just a large hole, and then four large eclectic buildings were erected at its sides. Between 1936-1945 Oktogon was named Mussolini Square.
