Rather posh restaurant in the posh street. Daily specialties from 12:00 and breakfast from 10:00-11:00.

Elegant bar and café with huge Chagall-ish mural on the building's façade. Not very extensive menu with simple dishes, but prices are reasonable, taking into account it is located in the downtown, just behind State Opera. Big non-smoking zone.

We strongly recommend that you see the interior of the Opera House designed by Miklós Ybl and completed in 1884. Inside decorations are superb and lavish, they strike. The ceiling in the main auditorium where hangs a three ton bronze chandelier was frescoed by Károly Lotz.
If you want to see just the building, and not an opera, you can take a tour. Tours are conducted in English, German, French, Hungarian and some other European languages and take about an hour, beginning at 15:00 and 16:00.
This traditional Austrian café, probably, had better days. Now the cakes are a bit synthetic, and so is the coffee. The waiters are somewhat sleepy. But it is packed anyway as in good old days.

CLOSED We like the place because of its location, interior, huge windows facing Andrássy, good food and friendly service. It is wisely divided into two areas - bar with high stools and restaurant, and has summer terrace.
