Budapest. Communications. Mobile Phone

If you are planning to stay in Budapest longer than just a couple of days, you can buy a pre-paid SIM-card from the local mobile operator to save on your calls home. There are three mobile operators in Hungary: Vodafone, Pannon GSM and T-Mobile. All operators provide mobile internet over 3G, EDGE and GPRS.

Here we provide only general practical information on pre-paid services. For further information and rates you can visit outlets or websites of the said mobile operators.

T-Mobile

The prefix before 7-digit number: 30.
Prepaid service: Domino.

You may recharge your account from OTP ATMs, petrol stations, through the OTP TeleBank Center by immediate account crediting, or by a mobile voucher available from numerous outlets in the city.

Pannon GSM

The prefix before 7-digit number: 20.

Prepaid service: Praktikum.
To top up your card you can use recharge cards available at Pannon GSM showrooms, authorized dealers, gas stations displaying the logo, post offices and news stands.

Vodafone

The prefix before 7-digit number: 70.
Prepaid service: VitaMAX.

You can top up your VitaMAX card either with recharge vouchers available at Vodafone outlets (to recharge dial 177 or use VitaMAX Online), or at Euronet and OTP Bank ATMs. In the latter case you are given a bonus of 1000 HUF (if you choose 7500 HUF) or 2500 HUF (if you choose 12500 HUF).
