Synagogue & Jewish Museum

Budapest. Synagogue & Jewish Museum

Europe's largest synagogue, the Dohány Synagogue, seating about 3000 persons, was built in the middle of the 19th century. Jewish Museum displaying objects that have been used by the community throughout its history in Hungary is located in the adjacent building.

Crime Museum

There are two permanent exhibitions in the museum, Criminal Investigation and Police History.

Underground Railway Museum

Budapest Metro Museum

It will take just about 15 minutes to see this museum, which occupies part of an original underground tunnel. The museum displays the history of the first underground on the continent and there are old carriages, equipment and plans on display.

Hungarian National Museum

Permanent exhibitions include Hungarian Coronation Insignia, history of Hungary from 1000 to the 20th century.

The building was designed as a museum, and built in 1837-1847. Now it is kept in very good condition.

Among exhibits of the museum are crockery, musical instruments, clothing, arms, jewelry, etc. In respective halls there is a good collection of propaganda placards of WWI.

Museum of Ethnography

The museum's permanent exhibition "Folk Culture of the Hungarians" includes objects dating back to the period from 18th century to World War II used by the Hungarian peasants in their everyday life and festivals.

Museum of Fine Arts

Museum of Applied Arts

This museum will also be of interest to lovers of architecture and interior design, because of the beautiful building designed by Odön Lechner. There is a permanent exhibition of Hungarian arts and crafts and some temporary exhibitions.

Hungarian Natural History Museum

Largest natural history museum in Hungary housing Department of Zoology, Department of Mineralogy and Petrology, Department of Anthropology, Department of Botany, Department of Geology and Palaeontology, Department of Education.

Aquincum Museum

Budapest. Aquincum Museum

Museum is dedicated to the period when the Romans conquered the region. Outside in the court of the museum there are columns and ruins of that period.
