The Royal Palace

Budapest. The Royal Palace

Here, in the 13th century after Mongol tribes had invaded Hungary, the residence was built for Hungarian kings. The Royal Palace was destroyed and rebuilt many times throughout its rich life. The "Red Heat" movie (1988) featuring today's California governor was filmed in Royal Castle: its stone paving resembles the Red Square paving.

Castle Hill

Budapest. Castle Hill

The Castle Hill also know as Castle District and Budai vár is one of the most popular tourist attractions. It has a long history and teems with museums, churches, monuments and statues. The Castle Hill is located in prestigious I district of Budapest, known for its high real estate prices. Its architecture slightly differs from the main trend one sees in the city's lowland. The only shops here are those offering souvenirs, postcards, Hungarian pottery, tablecloths and leather articles. But the place is stuffed with restaurants and cafés of every sort and kind. Also, view of the city is much better from here, than from Citadella (Gellért Hill).
