On the one hand gay scene in Budapest seems to be somewhat immature and underdeveloped, but on the other hand one can find here real action bars full of visitors from all over the world. After all, Hungary was one of the first countries in Eastern Europe to have gay pride.

VI. Dessewffy utca 33
There are 2 bars: the one upstairs is just ordinary one with Internet, while the bar downstairs is for gays only. Average prices and decent choice of drinks. Minimum consumption is 1000 HUF. There are thematic cabins (cage, bedroom, bathroom, torture room), chill out zone, video room. Very friendly staff. The place is crowded with locals and tourists.

Gay bar (men only). Darkroom, rent boys. Friendly bartenders speak English, German and French, but you almost can’t see their faces, or anybody else's as it’s very dark in the bar.
V. Szép utca 1
Tiny mixed bar which is good for pre- or afterparty. All night long Happy Hour every Fri, Sat and Sun. Travesty and GoGo shows on every second Thursday. Prices above average.
V. Nagysándor József utca 3
Tiny tacky bar in the city center with rather expensive drinks, visited mostly by locals and rent boys. Its only advantage is central location.
V. Türr István, 5
Gay bar in the downtown Budapest. Girls are not allowed. Darkroom, video room, rent boys, GoGo shows from midnight till 3 am.
V. Magyar utca 42
Multilevel, many-roomed nightclub. Mixed crowd of gays and straights, boys and girls. Drag queen shows start at 24:00 and 02:00. Music is a mix of Hungarian pop and international hits. Entrance is 1500 forints.
V. Belgrág rakpart, 23
Cozy place with reasonable prices and good salads, daily lunch menu on weekdays. Trendy & fashionable, gay and lesbian friendly.
