Small unpretentious café with brown wrapping paper on the walls on which they draw the pieces of interior. Simple, home-made like food, good house wine and friendly service. Nice place to have dinner with the friends.

Bacardi Original Bar

CLOSED. BoB is the restaurant and bar with a view of square in front of St. Stephen Basilica. Philippe Starck-y design, TexMex with good selection of salads, extensive list of cocktails, comfortable chairs and big non-smoking area. Surprisingly reasonable prices for food taking into account the very central location; prices for drinks, though, are above average. Superb meat in the burgers.

Japanese restaurant with minimalistic, clean design and great view of Chain Bridge and Buda Castle. Good quality sushi and also vast variety of offers for those who is not a fan of sushi. Polite and fast service. Quite expensive, but you know what you are paying for. Summer terrace.

Café Kör

Very popular bistro-style restaurant in the downtown Budapest. Warm and soft interior, white table clothes, friendly and effective service. Good wine selection and great meats, salads though are pretty average, and desserts are mainly Hungarian. Breakfasts from 10 to 12. Cash only. Table reservation recommended.

Borssó Bistro

Two-level French bistro-style restaurant with soft and charming interior and excellent service (despite it being included in the bill). Though menu is not very extensive (especially the dessert section) food is truly delicious and nicely presented. They also offer daily specials. Borssó might be an ideal place for romantic dinner.

Fecske Presszó

Fecske is an arty café/bar which we consider a good alternative to posh restaurants and low-life drinking holes as it is somewhere in the middle between both. Here you can have good food at reasonable prices (we recommend duck breast with rice and seeds) or enjoy booze night with your buddies in homely atmosphere. They have music programs on some weekends.

Kőleves Vendéglő

Little arty cafe in the Jewish district of Budapest with creative décor of kitchen utensils that was called "stone soup" after an old folk tale. They offer mostly Jewish specialties with Hungarian bits, and inexpensive daily menu. Jazz concerts every Tuesday at 21:00.
