Festivals like this one are quite frequent in Budapest for an obvious reason: they are popular with locals and tourists, and they offer two things that interest everyone, food and drink!

Bath Happy Hours

From 5th October 2010 Budapest baths will launch happy hours on weekdays when visitors have 50% discount on the entrance ticket. For instance, on Tuesday you can bathe half price in Lukács Bath, and on Thursday - in Gellért Bath.

From 11th October Gellért Bath will also run every Sunday the Family Day when men and women can use two thermal sections that are separated on all other days.

National Gallop

Budapest. National Gallop

The National Gallop is a three-day celebration of Hungarian history, gastronomy and Hussar traditions.

In this spectacular riding competition held annually, over a hundred horses and riders from Hungarian towns and villages race round the Heroes Square and reconstruct the historic battle scenes.

Each participating town has a pavilion to introduce their settlement to public. Visitors are also treated to craft fair, folk music performances and traditional Hungarian cuisine.

Mangalica Festival

Mangalica is an indigenous to Hungary pig breed distinguished by its rich and curly coat. Its breeding has been revived in recent years, and today its meat is becoming increasingly available and popular in Hungary.

This year the second Mangalica Festival will be held from 6th to 8th February in Vajdahunyad Castle in Budapest’s City Park (Városliget).

The festival will feature more than 30 breeders of Mangalica and distributors of products made of Mangalica meat that is delicious and healthy due to low cholesterol content.
